I deleted a lot of pics but the file names keep showing up when i do a search. How do I completely remove them

Please don't leave an answer if all it is is for some program I have to buy or freeware. I know there has to be a way to do it on the comp. I have windows vista have tryed disk clean up and defragmenting. Also tried free ware like CCleaner and eraser these have not worked Also tried deleting all temp files and browser history and cookies
