Was "Hannibal Rising" as Good As the Others?

Oh this is the book section... well I saw one of my contacts starred this. I have only seen the movie.. and I can honestly say, I thought it was way better than the others. It shows how he came to be Hannibal... a very haunting story. Very good film. So I'm guessing the book will be very similiar.
